Can ERP Manage Drawings? 2BizBox Achieves It!

Today I would like to introduce the Drawing Management in 2BizBox.

2BizBox ERP seems to be the only ERP Software that is able to manage Drawings. In the Engineering Box of 2BizBox, you might have found two types of Drawings addable: Manufacturing Drawing (hereinafter referred as MFG Drawing) and Engineering Drawing (hereinafter referred as ENG Drawing). So what is the difference between them?

Let’s talk from the manufacturing enterprises. If you’ve worked in some manufacturing enterprises, you must understand that the original drawings are the most confidential document, just as important as the source code to a software company. The original drawing is detailed in all design information of the part’s size, material, components, etc. They exist in format of AutoCAD DWG or other software like Solidworks. In 2BizBox, we call these original drawings as ENG Drawings.

Another type of Drawing is derived from ENG Drawing, but much more simplified, and mostly used in commercial communication or manufacturing, e.g. assembly drawings for workshop or customers and vendors. These drawings only contain the most basic information for installation and their format also changes to DWF, PDF or even image. We call these drawings MFG Drawings. Generally, MFG Drawings are readable but not editable.

Now let’s come back to 2BizBox. 2BizBox, each part can have multiple MFG or ENG Drawings. What is more, as the part’s design improves, each revision can match a MFG and ENG Drawing. Considered about the globalization, we especially allow you to upload drawings in different languages.

Here is a very simple manual for adding drawings.

First you need to set an uploading path for drawings:

Then in Engineering Box – Drawing, you can see the uploading options (MFG or ENG, Single or Batch) :

The uploading process is not complicated, but you have to pay attention to the rule of naming Drawings.

Batch Upload is a bit complex, so we write a simple explanation on how to do it.

First, choose a folder which contains another folder named after part type. Put all uploading files into this “another folder”. Pay attention to the file name rule.
Tip: If the part type name has “/”, you can write “%2F” instead.

For example, we want to upload drawings for three parts as follow:

So we establish a folder named “PART” and name the drawings as follow:

Put this folder “PART” under any dictionary. Click “Batch Upload MFG Drawing” and choose the folder “batch upload”:

Click “Start Upload”:

Drawing Management is not as simple ad uploading it to FTP. When you need to revise a part, you should create an ECN and accordingly, the Drawing need to be revised and uploaded again.

Finally, don’t forget security! Who has the right to upload and download drawings? Set it in security box.
